The CDC's concussion training designed for community and club coaches outside the school system — covers the same recognition, removal, and return-to-play fundamentals as the NFHS course, in an accessible format. Free.

Recommended for recreation leagues, travel clubs, and volunteer coaches not subject to NCHSAA rules.

Covers heat acclimatization, adjusting activities for changing environmental conditions, hydration planning, and emergency action plans for exertional heat stroke — the leading cause of preventable death in high school athletics. 1 hour.

Recommended for all coaches running outdoor programs, especially in NC's warm months.

Passed the NC House 110–1 in May 2025. If signed, would require annual injury prevention training for all coaches at organizations using public facilities, effective August 2026. Coaches who complete the resources on this page will already be ahead of the curve.
